CTA stands for the Commercial Travellers' Association. It serves possibly the cheapest drink in the city ($3.50 schooners). I imagine that back in the day, men who had travelled from far away to come into town for business, enjoyed a gin and tonic and a cigar here, and perhaps found a lovely lady to take home for the evening before returning to the family the next day. The red carpet says a lot about this bar.
